Pricing & access: AI cover letter tools compared
What does each tool actually cost, what is free, and do you need an account? A neutral side-by-side, checked against each tool's official pricing page in October 2026. Prices change — always confirm on the official site before buying.
One honest rule. We only publish a score for tools we could test end to end (CoverCraft and FreeToolr so far — see the reviews). For the rest, this page states the free tier, the paid plans and what we saw in testing, without pretending to have scored what we could not fully test.
| Tool | Free tier | Paid plans | Sign-up | What we saw in testing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CoverCraft first-party scored 8.8 | 1 scored letter per day | $20 one-time, full access | None | Free quota used up in one test day; full access unlocks with a one-time license key. (Our own product — full disclosure in the review.) |
| FreeToolr scored 4.0 | Unlimited, no account | None (ad-supported) | None | Generated instantly, but invented experience and data; never read the job description. See review for the details. |
| Kickresume | $0 — 4 resume + 4 cover letter templates, unlimited downloads, 20,000 phrases | $24/mo monthly · $18/mo quarterly · $8/mo yearly ($96/yr) · Grammar check $30/letter | Required (free tier included) | Registration worked. In our test environment, clicking Generate raised an editor error after the Google Places autocomplete step. We could not produce a letter, so no score; happy to retest. |
| Rezi | $0 — 1 resume, 3 PDF downloads, 1 AI interview; cover letters included free (usage-capped) | Pro $29/mo · Lifetime $149 one-time · Enterprise $99/mo per 200 users · Cover letter builder from $8 | Required | From our region, Apple sign-in hung and email registration was rejected, so we could not complete sign-up. Likely regional/anti-fraud friction rather than a product fault. |
| Jobscan | ATS scan: 5 free/month | AI cover letter: $49.95/mo (per plan page) | Required | Registration worked. The ATS tool has a free tier; the letter generator is behind the paid plan, which we have not purchased — so no score yet. |
| Teal | Free Forever (resume builder, job tracking) | Teal+ $13/week · $29/30 days · $79/90 days | Required | Account creation worked. Onboarding is a long multi-step flow; our test session stalled before completion. No score yet. |
| Template.net | Free generator (registration not required for the tool) | Subscription-based (site-wide); see official site | None (for the free tool) | The free generator froze at "AI generating… 90%" for over 10 minutes with no output. No score yet. |
| AIFreeBox | 100% free access (per official site) | None advertised | None | Repeated Generate clicks returned no output for the cover letter tool; heavy ad placements. No score yet. |
| Cover Letter Copilot | Free to start (email sign-in) | See official site | Required (email magic link) | Clicking Generate redirects to an email sign-in wall. We did not complete the flow, so no score yet. |
| LoopCV | Free forever plan (limited automated applications) | From €9.99/mo | Required (app account) | Cover letters live inside the job-search app; the generator needs the app account. Not scored. |
| Enhancv | Free plan (7-day validity) | Pro from $16.50/mo (per official pricing page) | None (for the generator) | No login needed; resume + JD accepted, but generation failed twice server-side. Retest on our list. |
| Nohaya | — | — | — | The cover letter builder URL returns HTTP 404; nothing to test. |

Notes on accuracy
- Pricing is verified, not guessed. Free tiers and paid plans above were read from each tool's official pricing page on 2026-10-12 (Jobscan from its plan page; Enhancv from its pricing page title/plans). Where an official page was unreachable or did not state a number, we wrote "see official site" instead of inventing a figure.
- Regional testing limitation. Our tests ran from one specific region. A few sign-ups or flows (Rezi, Teal) may behave differently from where you are — we noted those cases instead of calling them product faults.
- Region, not judgment. Nothing on this page ranks these tools by quality. Quality opinions only ever come from a published review.
Standing invitations. Prices move and products change. If you spot a stale figure, or a tool we could not finish now works fine from your region, tell us — we will verify and update this table. Scores change with evidence, never with marketing.
