Independent, hands-on testing

We test AI cover letter tools so you don't have to.

Every tool on LetterBench is run through real jobs. We compare what they actually output, how they hold up on ATS basics, and whether the price is worth it — then we rank them.

Tools we've tested so far

Two tools actually generated a letter with no account and no card. One fact-checked the candidate's experience; the other invented it. The rest are documented — without scores — in the availability report.

How a LetterBench review works

Three passes on every tool. If we can't test it honestly, we don't rank it.

1

Apply with a real job

We feed each tool the same set of real job descriptions and compare the letters it produces — structure, specificity, and how human the writing sounds.

2

Check the ATS basics

Formatting, keyword handling, file export, and whether the output survives a scan the way a hiring system would see it.

3

Weigh price against value

Free tier limits, real pricing, ease of use, and whether the paid plan actually changes the output quality.
